Calling All Lucky Bag Owners
Help Us build the Fair Winds Collection
For generations of midshipmen, The Lucky Bag has been far more than a yearbook: it’s a time capsule of Bancroft memories, sea stories, late-night laughs, triumphs, friendships, and the unmistakable pride of walking the Yard.
First published in the late 1800s, the Lucky Bag has chronicled the evolution of the Naval Academy and the thousands of officers who have sailed forward from its gates.
At Fair Winds, we’ve always believed that Annapolis is as much felt as it is visited — its history, its traditions, and its people create the magic. That’s why we’re beginning a new tradition of our own:
A Living Lucky Bag Library
We’d love to build a collection of Lucky Bags for guests to explore — an ever-growing anthology of Naval Academy heritage that future visitors can flip through with a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine on the patio at sunset.
If you have an extra Lucky Bag — or one you’d like to see enjoyed and appreciated by fellow grads, families, and visitors — we would be honored to give it a home.
How to Contribute
If you’d like to donate your Lucky Bag to the Fair Winds collection, you’re welcome to:
Leave it at the house during your stay, or Mail it to us any time.
And if you feel inspired, we’d be truly touched if you included a short note inside — something about you, your class, your career, or any sea stories you’d like to leave behind. Think of it as a small log entry for the next generation to discover.
